A bus carrying school children crashed south of Bourg-en-Bresse in eastern France on Friday, killing at least two people and injuring 16 others. The vehicle was carrying 43 passengers in total.
The 58-year-old, who has been detained since April last year, was acquitted of the more serious charge of treason.
One child and one young adult were killed in the crash, local authorities say, with more injured.
