I compared 6 MCP proxies inside Claude Code. Most advertise 85–99% token savings, but those numbers assume every tool schema is loaded upfront, and Claude Code already avoids that. On real tasks, 4 of them used more tokens than no proxy at all, and 2 couldn't finish the tasks.
