The Senate early Saturday morning confirmed Todd Blanche as the next attorney general, with the nominee narrowly securing sufficient GOP backing after making a number of promises about how he would handle his tenure as the country’s top law enforcement officer. The vote was 50-49.
After weeks of uncertainty, Todd Blanche was confirmed as U. S. attorney general early Saturday in a mostly party-line vote.
The measure was approved in a 90 to 6 vote and now goes to the House.
The move came more than a month before the spending deadline, reflecting an eagerness in both parties to avoid a messy fight before the midterm elections.
